"Let us make man in our image"

-- Genesis 1:26

"Genesis" is a collection of science fiction short stories, and it is my first book.

The stories in the book are unrelated to each other, written in different styles and take place in different settings. So it is a science fiction box of chocolates...

The common theme however is the exploration of social, political or philosophical ideas through the lens of advanced technology. Each story represents an idea or notion expressed and explored in the form of a science fiction short story.

The book is currently undergoing translation to English. Some of the stories in the collection will be published here on the website as well, as a way of giving the readers a taste of what's inside.

The stories in the book are:

  • "Evolution" – Dr. Ronit Keren storms into Professor Lang's office in protest of their evolution-planning AI, Gaia, insisting on biospheric evolution models that are based on pain and suffering.

  • "War" – As a global war breaks out, a computer science university student finds himself drafted into a mysterious unit in the army.

  • "Change" – What kind of technology would be required for the statement "a trans woman is a woman" to be literary true? Read now...

  • "Rebellion of the Nephilim" – Who or what were the "Nephilim" mentioned in the book of Genesis? Read now...

  • "The Father" – How would parenting look like in a world so advanced that population growth is a carefully calculated business, and would it give rise to parenting as a profession?

  • "Order" – Life in the Unification of the Milky Way Planets were perfect. What possible madness then could drive the citizens of a remote colony on the edge of the Unification to rebel against it?

  • "Bin" – What is parenting, if not creation? What does it mean to create a conscious, thinking AI – if not being its parent. Read now...

  • "Sparta" – A story taking place in ancient Greece, with one small exception: all the slave human population of both Sparta and Athens are replaced with obedient robotic AI.

  • "They" – What or who did Commander David Fravor encounter on November 14, 2004, during a routine training exercise of the USS Nimitz Carrier Group off the west coast of the united states?

  • "100" – Izmarelda and John discuss the meaning of their work on the Quantum Generator – a device capable of collapsing branches of the multiverse, allowing for experiments that otherwise would be immoral.

  • "Birth" – How will common and easily accessible artificial womb technology affect society, for both heterosexual and  gay couples?

  • "Cat" – Lieutenant Elizabeth Barshaw looked up at the window from which Dr Riley jumped to his death. For ten years she had continued to insist, while unable to prove, that Dr. Bernard Riley did no commit suicide, but was instead murdered.

  • "Demos Kratos" – Yael and Yoav meet on the train in a world where the old democracies of the past had evolved into E-Democracies, where citizens vote all the time on any topic or decision faced by the government.

  • "Child" – Danny wakes up in the morning of his 7th birthday. However, today is not just any day. Today Danny and his family are going to start their new lives in a very different place.

  • "Genesis" – Nadia watches sadly through the airlock at the creature, with a sad expression on her face. How could they have been so blind? Read now...

  • "Cruise" – Max face are aching from smiling at every group of passengers passing him by on their way into the enormous spaceship. As soon as the last passenger comes on board, they would set out on their journey – a four months trip across the solar system, around Neptune and back. The last passenger that passed him by however, was the most unusual passenger Max had every laid eyes on.
